How To Drain LG Washer; Ultimate Guide

How To Drain LG Washer

Knowing how to drain LG washer is a must-have skill for LG washer owners. A washing machine that doesn’t drain properly can be more than just a nuisance – it can be a health hazard.

If water is allowed to build up in the machine, it can create a breeding ground for bacteria and mold. This can cause respiratory problems, skin infections, and other serious health issues.

Draining your washer also helps to remove rust and any bad smells that may have developed over time, extending its lifespan.

How To Drain The Water From Your LG Washer Properly

LG washers come with a self-cleaning cycle that helps keep the washer tub clean and free of buildup. Over time, however, this cycle may not be enough to remove all the dirt and debris from the washer.

Depending on the model you have, there are a few different ways to drain your LG washer. The most common way is to use the drain hose attached to the back of the washer. You can use the following instructions to drain it and remove any buildup.

1. Connect the washer to a power outlet.

If you’ve already started the machine, wait until the water inside is at a reasonable level before initiating the draining process. Otherwise, you’ll get incredibly wet from the overflow.

2. Unplug the washer draining hose.

Remove the washer’s drain hose from the back of the washer and place it in a sink or bucket to collect the drained water.

3. Initiate a drain-only cycle

Turn on the washer and select the spin cycle by hitting the spin cycle followed by the start button to initiate the draining process. Once the washer drains, turn off the power and disconnect the washer from the water supply.

4. Clean the drain plug

Clean the inside of the machine thoroughly after you’ve finished draining the water. Make sure to clean the drain plug as well before closing the drain plug when water stops dripping from the machine. Debris in the drain plug is usually the common cause of draining problems in the washer.

Why Is My Washer Not Draining Properly?

Either of these problems could cause your washer’s draining problem;

Kinked or blocked drain hose.

Most washing machines have a drain hose from the back to a drain pipe. This hose can sometimes become kinked, preventing the water from draining properly.

Another common issue is a blockage in the drain pipe. Lint and soap buildup are some of the most common causes of blockage in drain pipes. If your washer is not draining properly, check the drain hose and drain pipe for any blockages.

Unplug the washing machine and remove the drain hose to clear a blockage. Then, use a plunger to try to clear the blockage.

Defective drain pump

The drain pump helps to expel water from the washer, so if it is not working properly, the water will not be able to drain out.

If you think your washer’s drain pump may be defective, the best thing to do is contact a professional for help.

Knowing how to drain LG washer is an invaluable skill that can increase your washer’s lifespan. It’s important to drain your LG washer periodically to remove any built-up detergent, soap, or fabric softener. Over time, these materials can clog your washer’s drain hose and cause problems with the washing machine’s performance.
